Seed App Angular 5 & CLI 1.5 Upgrade
November 01 2017 by Chris
Angular 5 and Angular CLI 1.5 just came out today! To start the upgrade, I upgraded npm by running npm install -g npm followed by upgrading my global npm packages with npm update -g.
I created a new Angular CLI project in order to observe any changes by running ng new angular-cli-seed.
I noticed that .angular-cli.json and karma.conf.js are unchanged, however package.json reflects all Angular packages have been changed to version "^5.0.0.", angular-cli changed to version "1.5.0", rxjs has been changed to version "^5.5.2" and finally typescript has been changed to version "~2.4.2".
So for my seed app, I changed those version numbers and installed those latest packages with npm install. There was a very small tslint.json update too which blacklisted developers from importing all of "rxjs/Rx" which makes total sense and polyfills.ts now doesn't include import 'core-js/es6/reflect.
Everything in my extremely basic seed app still works! I verified by running lint, a production build and my Chrome unit tests.
